The Journal: in-depth articles and updates

The Journal is where we publish longer, bylined articles on topics that need more room than a guide, including comparisons of treatments that are easy to confuse and detailed answers to specific questions. For the newest pieces, go to the Journal listing.

The Journal: in-depth articles and updates

How Journal articles are put together

Every Journal article is written under a named author and shows its published date and reading time. Longer pieces have a table of contents so you can jump to the part you need, and common questions are answered in an FAQ section. Like our guides, each article lists its sources and carries a note that it’s general information, not medical advice.

A guide gives you the short answer and the essentials. A Journal article goes further into the practical detail that’s easy to discover too late. When a reader’s question deserves more than a reply, the answer may become a Journal article.

Each article links back to the relevant guide, so you can check the basics or move on to costs without searching.

Comparisons and updates

Comparisons and updates

It’s easy to mix up treatments that sound similar. We’re planning Journal comparisons for pairs such as:

  • IPL vs laser
  • chemical peel vs microdermabrasion
  • dermal filler vs anti-wrinkle injections

We also plan to keep an updates log in the Journal, listing guides we’ve revised and what changed. Because we update pages in place rather than republishing them, the log will be the easiest way to see what’s new without rereading everything.

Who the Journal is for

The Journal suits returning readers and anyone arriving with a specific question. If you’re new to treatments, start with the skincare and treatment guides. If you’re after prices, go to treatment costs and budgets.

We publish new pieces when there’s something worth saying, not to fill a schedule. You can see who writes for us on the About Lapilita page and on the author pages for Xavier Montague and Frederick Ashbury.
